Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vertical farm?
A vertical farm is basically a plant factory. Crops are grown in large modules that contain multiple layers of growth, like a shelving unit. In our farm, we use the method of hydroponics, which means there is no soil or dirt involved. All plants are grown using only water and nutrients, but they sit in small cubes made of an innate material that helps to keep the roots and stem stable. Think of thousands of plants growing on shelves in a warehouse, stacked all the way to the ceiling. Outdoor farming hurts our environment and we’re running out of land. This is farming of the future.
How do I become a farmer?
Because of our social mission to fight recidivism, we are focused on hiring only men and women who have criminal records and have spent time in prison. Having a record can make finding employment and success a difficult battle. We think everyone deserves a second chance, especially if they’ve repaid their debt to society with prison time, but we are only looking for those who are driven to be successful and want to run their own business. If interested, go to the JOIN US page and fill out the “Agripreneur” form to start the application process.
